Export Pallets for UK Businesses

Specify the right wooden pallet for your goods, handling equipment and destination. We manufacture export pallets to agreed requirements, with ISPM15 heat treatment and marking where needed.

Choose an export pallet around the load

Export packaging starts with how your goods sit on the pallet and how they will be moved. The footprint alone does not define a pallet’s strength or suitability.

Size and deck layout

Confirm the product footprint, any overhang and the support needed beneath bags, cartons or machinery. Standard footprints and bespoke dimensions can be discussed against your drawing or sample.

Handling and load support

Identify forklift entry directions, pallet truck access and whether pallets will be stacked or used in racking. Agree the intended load and handling conditions before choosing the construction.

Freight requirements

Check the pallet specification with your freight forwarder and receiving customer. Container planning, cargo securing and customer acceptance need to be considered alongside treatment.

ISPM15 marking for export pallets

Solid wood pallets used on routes requiring ISPM15 must be appropriately treated and marked. Conventional heat treatment requires at least 56°C for 30 continuous minutes throughout the wood, including the core.

The legible ISPM15 mark identifies the country, producer or treatment provider and treatment method. A separate certificate does not replace the required mark. Read our ISPM15 guide for more on treatment and identification.

Export destinations and checks

For solid wood packaging moving from Great Britain to the EU, ISPM15 requirements apply. Wood packaging moving from Great Britain to Northern Ireland must also meet the standard.

For other destinations, confirm the importing country’s current requirements and any additional conditions with the relevant authority or your freight forwarder. ISPM15 compliance addresses wood-packaging pest risk; it does not establish pallet load capacity or complete your customs paperwork.

Before dispatch
  • Check the specified pallet dimensions and construction.
  • Inspect for damage and ensure the goods are properly supported.
  • Confirm the required treatment marks are legible.
  • Check associated solid wood packaging, including collars and dunnage.
  • Confirm the destination and consignee’s packaging requirements.

Find the right pallet option

A 1200 x 800 footprint does not, by itself, make a pallet an EPAL-licensed Euro pallet. Tell us if your customer requires a particular pallet standard or approved specification.

Export pallet questions

Does every export shipment need heat treated pallets?

Requirements depend on the destination, route and packaging material. Confirm the rules for your shipment before ordering; solid wood packaging on routes covered by ISPM15 needs an approved treatment and marking.

Is heat treatment the same as kiln drying?

Do not use moisture content alone as proof of ISPM15 compliance. If you also need dry pallets, specify the moisture requirement separately alongside the treatment and marking requirement.

Can you manufacture export pallets to a drawing?

Send the drawing or a sample specification, quantity and handling requirements. We can assess a suitable manufacturing option and provide a quotation.

Export pallets direct from the manufacturer

For new export pallets manufactured on site, send us your specification and shipment requirements. We can assess custom export pallets, heavy duty constructions and commercial quantities against the intended load and handling method.

Buying export pallets direct from a manufacturer lets you discuss deck layout, entry directions and treatment together. For wholesale shipping pallet enquiries, include your order quantity, repeat demand and delivery postcode.

PPWR transport packaging compliance and documentation

UK to EU export pallets can raise packaging documentation questions as well as ISPM15 treatment requirements. Regulation (EU) 2025/40, commonly called PPWR, has phased requirements: initial provisions apply from 12 August 2026, with others taking effect later.

We offer both ISPM15 heat-treated export pallets and PPWR compliance documentation for the supplied pallet specification. This includes applicable Declarations of Conformity and supporting pallet information for your technical documentation and packaging records. Send your customer’s requirements so we can confirm the documentation needed. Read our guide to PPWR pallet compliance and documentation before preparing your enquiry.
